...is the reason that I am now at home sulking instead of in Switzerland. Waited for six hours before being told that the flight was "indefinitely delayed" because the plane was grounded in the East Midlands. You'd have thought they could have mentioned that before, rather than just incrementally adjusting the departure time a half-hour at a time.

What are my chances of getting a refund from Sleazyjet? Or even being able to talk to a human? ("Welcome to the Easyjet Customer Experience! This line is charged at 10p per minute." "Oh for fuck's sake!" "Sorry, I didn't hear that. Please repeat your query.")

Edit: Refunded! ...thanks to the Super Secret™ number that [livejournal.com profile] luckylove pointed out below; 01582 700036.

I've just had Ryanair trying to charge me £1 per minute to tell me that, if I'd rather not wait, I can do stuff on their hideously ugly and completely nonfunctional website.

And my Reception is full of people who should be at home in Poland by now. At least you get to go home.

Here, have a gorilla.

My parents were supposed to get back to Aberdeen today from their 3 month holiday. It turns out their flight from Fiji was diverted to southern Ireland because Heathrow is closed! When it reopens they've got to fly back to Heathrow and up to Aberdeen. It sounds like it's a bit chaotic down there.

There is an actual East Midlands Airport, EMA, but no EMA-EDI Easyjet flights... assuming the aircraft was at Luton, the travel time is short enough that they could have been hoping to get a takeoff slot for ages before giving up. Or they could be inhuman slime. Based on prior experience, I'd go for "slime".

I quite like EMA. It's got surprising transatlantic services.

They are legally obliged to give you lots of money as compensation.

At least €250. And that's for a journey under 1500km I believe.

I was flying down from Shetland at the weekend and there was a poster telling us all about it. But EU directives say they have to give you compensation and define the compensation they "must offer". If they don't offer it, I believe you're entitled to sue their ass.

Try this number 01582 700036 from http://www.saynoto0870.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.cgi?num=1104504432/60

I'd dial 141 to withhold your number first. There are other ways around the 0871 number such as dialling the Dutch one. That only works if you get cheap calls abroad. I'm not sure how much 1899 are charging for calls to the Netherlands these days. (Just checked - 2p p/min for a landline.) They're also cheaper than VirginMedia for 0870 numbers.
