Dreamwidth

This entry, and in fact the previous one, was created in Dreamwidth (from spudtater) and crossposted automatically to Livejournal. Now crossposting is not absolutely the best thing in the world — after all, it means giving Dreamwidth my Livejournal password, and it also means a lot of duplicated content — and two entirely different sets of comments, which is annoying.

Nonetheless, Dreamwidth sounds brilliant, and I'm not that keen on LJ anymore, so for now I'm crossposting. The full plan is:

1. For now, post to DW, crossposting automatically to LJ — but continue to read my friends list through LJ.
2. Once the DW programmers figure out how to put my LJ friends on my DW reading page, start reading from DW.
3. Close down commenting on my LJ account, making people comment over at DW instead.
4. Wait for the LJ programmers to copy DW's tactic, so that my LJ friends can then read my DW account from their friends list.
5. Finally, close down my LJ account, to avoid unnecessary superfluous redundant journals.

There's obviously a lot of assumptions there, and for all I know Dreamwidth could just slowly collapse like a flan in a cupboard. But I hope not.
