Come to think of it, there's two hacks in the above CSS...
I almost don't even think of *html as a hack now.   8^)

No, it just registers as a "close bracket" for IE5.5; thus any CSS that follows is not seen by that browser.

Errr... you do realise we are talking about Microsoft here, right?

Anyway, as far as Microsoft are concerned, it has been fixed — all you have to do is to upgrade to IE6 (or preferably IE7)!

Well, usually you don't want to screen them out, just show them a somewhat more crippled version of the page.
