Well, I've got fed up of the breastfeeding icon. I think public interest has all but petered out, which is a shame. I'm disappointed and disillusioned in LJ because whenever they come up with something to which their users have strong objections, their plan of attack appears to be:
1) Assign an employee with "a personal interest" in the subject, who agrees very strongly with the complaining users about something. (E.g. "breastfeeding is good" or "advertisments are annoying"). Have them make a post, inviting users to "discuss the problem" and "work out a solution". Perhaps even reply to one or two of the easier-to-answer comments.
2) Meanwhile, ignore all this and do whatever they planned to do in the first place.
So yes, forLiveJournal SixApart, "working out a solution" appears to mean "persuade our users to change their minds, not us ours".
I currently have a paid account. I don't use much of the extra features, but in the past I have felt that it is worth it anyway, to support a fascinating community and an excellent company. I no longer feel this way, and consequently LJ will not continue to get my money. (Erm, well, technically it isn't my money, since the paid account was a gift, but you know what I mean.) 8^]
