Went to a "Cheesy Cheese & Wine party" yesterday, which proved to be only slightly cheesy, and not at all whiny.

We took along a Criffel from Valvona & Crolla, which is lovely. (A bit stinky and a touch salty for a lot of people, but right up my alley.) I've got another lump of it stinking up sitting in the fridge all for myself. Muahahahaha! Meanwhile, I was introduced to Stinking Bishop, which was also a lovely cheese; some sticky creamy Brie-like thing which I can never remember the name of; an interesting cheese from Sainsbury's that tasted like nothing so much as smoked haddock; the Red Devil; a surprisingly edible Mexican cheese; an incredibly artistic cheese dragon (!?) and many more besides.

Also tasted: not content with drinking alcoholic beverages and eating cheeses, somebody in their infinite wisdom had decided to combine both aspects into a single product. Hence: Fallachan (a.k.a. "Blaand"), a drink made from fermented whey. This was tried by all present, and quickly dubbed "liquid sock". I hypothesised that since wine was drunk with cheese, this product would best be consumed with grapes. Spluttering and retching noises by the experimenters suggested that no, it would not.

All in all, had a great time, and for once my stomach behaved incredibly well despite the (apparently) threatening concept of visiting previously unknown flats for partying purposes. As well as the cheese, I managed to consume a significant amount of alcohol (wine, port, sock, rasperry vodka...) and by the end of the night was talking quite a bit of shite. Hurrah!
