Original post: That Daily Express Dunblane thing

THE Scottish Sunday Express has enjoyed a long love affair with the people of our nation. [...] Over that time, we have established a reputation for crusading journalism built on the twin cornerstones of honesty and integrity. [...] It is also hugely important to us that the Scottish Sunday Express reflects the feelings of the people of Scotland.

On March 8 we got that all wrong.

I noticed that as well. You'd almost think they believed that their perfunctory and half-hearted apology might not stop people criticising them.

I also see that they're very modest, declaring that their in a long love affair with the people of the nation, which I imagine most of the people in the nation would be surprised to learn (as well as being surprised to learn that the Daily Express has a reputation for honesty and integrity).

Yeah, that sort of posturing just made me laugh. They're not fooling anybody.

Still, they've admitted that there is a line, and that they have crossed it. Hopefully both the Express and the other tabloids will be wary of this sort of thing for... oooh, a couple of weeks at least.   8^P

Interestingly, that may be a dig at Elizabeth Smith MSP, who was quoted in the article, then went on record claiming to be misquoted ("I never meant those teenagers!"), but after discussion with the Sunday Express editor, suddenly went very quiet.
