To celebrate our third anniversary (of the first time we went out, anyway), [livejournal.com profile] galaxy_girl00 and I went to La Favorita on Leith Walk.

I. Am. Stuffed. Stuffed, and happy.   8^)

Do not be put off by the slight trendiness. I highly recommend the place for anybody who fancies being a little bit of a more adventurous with their Italian food. For example, my meal included (with shared starters):

  • Focaccia Parmense: Fresh focaccia bread topped with parma ham cubes, walnuts, fresh pear, parmesan shavings finished with balsamic vinegar syrup and rocket leaves
  • Arancini di Riso: Breaded rice balls filled with mincemeat, tomato and mozzarella
  • Pizza Romana: Tomato, mozzarella, capers, garlic, cherry tomatoes, chopped haddock, mussels, olives and oregano

Menu here

Slightly expensive, but not outrageously so.

At last! Validation! I've been telling people about capers and fish on pizza for years and no-one ever believes me...

Go in through the door on the left, grab a takeaway menu on the way in and in it is a voucher for a round of free drinks in the restaurant. Win :)

Ah yes, La Favorita, best, and most expensive pizza takeaway in Edinburgh. Very nice, quite cheap (prices are the same) restaurant, too.
