The Pionen data centre is situated in an ex-cold-war bunker deep in the bedrock beneath Stockholm, designed to withstand a near hit from a hydrogen bomb. The developers have taken that theme and run with it, taking their inspiration from the secret underground la-irs of various Bond villians, as well as "Logan’s Run, Silent Running, and Star Wars".

If anybody's wondering what to get me for christmas…? I've already got the white cat.

Am thinking any buyers will have to fight off bids from gominokouhai and others, though.

But do you have the army of jumpsuited minions?

The Barnton Quarry bunker was designed to take a direct hit from a conventional free-fall bomb, or a near miss from a 20kt nuclear weapon. Sadly it's uninhabitable.

I was quite amused today to see, in the watch shop on Forrest Hill, a series of Bond villain-themed Swatches. You can buy the Max Zorin watch with the 80s dials everywhere, or the Xenia Onatopp skinny one with the square face and the star detail, or the Jaws watch made entirely out of chunky steel.

The cat gets one for himself. I didn't see one for Blofeld.
