I forgot to take the garlic schapps with me on holiday, and so it remains unconsumed. I have just removed the garlic and sampled the brew. 'Tis strong, but not unpleasant.
Colour is a pale yellow with a slight green tinge.
*Samples again for good measure*
Odour is a clear and obvious garlic one, with some sharp notes that reminds me somewhat of vinegar or dettol.
A sharp, grassy pungence invades your nose on the first sip. It mellows out into a very nutty flavour, but the sharpness remains on the tongue for some time.

Who wants to sample, and when?   8^)

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] gominokouhai has sampled. Comments: "surprisingly smooth" and posits ginger ale as a mixer. Mmmm, ginger ale.

But... but... but... it's a chocolate Synod!
Hmmm... *wonders about the prospect of mixing chocolate and garlic*
Well, never mind. I shall indeed bring it to the Synod.

To those who know not of the cult[0] and its Synods, though: if you want a taste of this fine brew, speak up, and I'll make sure the naughty cultists don't drink it all.

It would be possible to get some cocoa beans though, surely? In fact, I'll join you in a hunt for them. I think chocolate schnapps or chocolate vodka could be very very good.

As for the garlic schnapps, it smelled very good, although very strongly garlic. I'd suggest it would be good with pizza. Or Mexican food. Tortilla, anyone?

A google search for "cocoa schnapps" turned up no results, so I'm guessing that this one just doesn't work. (It would be very bitter, I'm thinking.) Best stick to creme de cacao. (Chocolate martini made with this and vodka was one of the best drinks I've ever tasted.)

Good suggestions for the food accompaniments, but I think it needs a mixer as well, since it's rather strong-tasting. Tomato juice?

*raises hand*

Will be in scotland in three weeks, but in Glasgow, consarn it. Are you going to the Scottish?

I'm contemplating ordering a kilo of 73% dark chilli chocolate, or perhaps prune and geranium, so a swap of some kind may be possible.

Mmmmm. Do want to go to convention. Unfortunately cannot pre-reg since I don't have a checking account, buggerit. £6 down the drain.   8^(

Sigh. The Scottish appears to be cancelled. So you're up 32 pounds and are buying the drinks - there's always a silver lining...

Still planning on coming up that weekend, and may even get to Edinburgh. We shall see.
