Egads! [livejournal.com profile] sigmonster has already read his height in books!

Today have been attempting to set up an Apple AirPort for wireless intarweb. It's crap. I think it's broken. I can't detect it no matter what I do. Plus, Apple have very thoughtfully created a nifty setup program that does everything for you, mentioned this fact multiple times in the instructions, and then not included it on the install CD! How imbecilic can you be?!

The Airport seems to be incredibly bad - on my iBook the list of networks seems to never be correct, it'll either refuse to detect a network I *know* is there, or list a network and then for some unknown reason not connect. In addition, there are too many 'Airport' and network setup utilities that it's hard to know which to use - I think one's certainly only for Apple's AP, while another can setup the internal Airport card, and another is used to see the signal strength - it's just such a mess. I really don't get the whole thing people have with OS-X being easy to use; I personally find it a lot more confusing than Windows, with the only redeeming features being the UNIX base and the X-Code developer tools.

How odd, I've never had that sort of problem with mine.
