Mmm... cheese?

Have just been eating Vacherin Mont D'or, brought back from Swizzerland.

It is the durian of the cheese world. Smelly as anything, but actually quite tasty!

Random fact: Vacherin is banned in America. For no good reason.   8^)

OMG! Someone else who knows about durian! Me and my brother had our lives saved by them while we we in Indonesia (kinda...). It's a complex and bizarre story.

Actually, it isn't mold that it smells of... well, not visible mold, anyway. Dunno what it actually is. stormsearch described it as "smelling of brussels sprouts" and I have to say that I agree...

Nah, had it cold. Still good, though. Must try next one hot. Mmmm, fondue.
The france/switzerland distinction is rather arbitrary; it comes from the same mountain, which just happens to be on the border...

yep. u cook them with rosemary, garlic and white wine. Tis a challenge to eat it then without making a mess. I recomend taters or bread and salad. Unfortunately it's just coing to the end of season for them so if u wanna try it again u'll have to run out now and buy one! hehe
