Had my first driving lesson today. Well, first for about ten years — I passed my test ages ago in Hong Kong, but then let my licence expire.

Bloody terrifying, it was. Last time I learnt I was a lot less concerned about my personal safety, it would seem!

Sun's Javadoc documentation tool allows for sections of code ("methods") to be marked as "deprecated", to warn future developers to avoid using them. The reason for this is usually because the old method is not fully-featured, compatible, or technically correct enough. But sometimes there are other reasons.

Found in the official Java API:

 int	 getMaxDecent()
          Deprecated. As of JDK version 1.1.1, replaced by getMaxDescent().

Interview was interesting; managed not to make too much of a fool of myself. Managed to decipher a horrible piece of C. They seemed relatively impressed. Shared my thoughts on A Wide Range of Topics; managed to be almost non-wooden at times. They should let me know whether or not I made the "shortlist" by tomorrow evening. If I have, I get to go in again and "meet the team".

In other news, my computer is completely and utterly b0rk. (Am updating from [livejournal.com profile] gominokouhai's computer.) It may just be the hard disk, or it might be my BIOS. Was planning on getting new computer anyway (birthday present from parents; yay!), so will see what is salvageable.

Update: I can't spell. Decifer -> decipher. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] gominokouhai.
So I got my graduation photos today, addressed to a

"MR ALEX PANAYOTOAPULPS"

8^D

(As for the actual photos, the main photo is pretty embarrassing; I have a bit of a gormless grin. The family (+Suzi) photo is better, though.)

You know those 'targetted ads' by Google on the right-hand side of the page? I notice that most of the people who've paid to advertise on 'dyslexia' have also advertised on 'dsylexia'.   8^)

Also, eBay seems to sell most misspelt things. Like 'squirels' and 'pomegranites', apparently.

Haha! Thanks to Google, the evil of Work is being avoided.
